Head of Basic Science Department

Basic Science and Humanities Department aims to build strong foundation for engineering subjects by transferring knowledge for subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Communication Skill. The department comprises of subjects like Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics for first year and second year (I to IV), and Communication Skill - I and II.


The department has well furnished class rooms, notice boards for display of notices, separate water cooler & RO purifiers exclusively for First Year students. The department has well equipped labs for subjects like Engineering Physics Lab, Engineering Chemistry lab, Language Lab which provides opportunity to students to gain practical knowledge of the subject. The department have qualified and experienced faculty which constantly strive to give the best of their knowledge to the students and keep them up-to-date in this competitive era.

The department conducts an annual technical event “Techno blitz” for first year students of engineering colleges affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, which is a phenomenal characteristic, since it is organized by first year students for the first year students. This platform provides fresh technocrats an opportunity to showcase their skills in a very initial stage of their professional education.

The department is proposing a student association from 2017-18 coined as “SAFE (Students Association of First Year Engineering”. The department has an Internal Complaints Committee especially working for girls students in the institute to give them fearless atmosphere in their stay in MIT. The department also has a Teacher Guardian scheme, a step through which the department takes care of first year students to be comfortable in the new atmosphere and to be an integral part of this institute. The department organizes expert talk of eminent personalities and industrial visit to share knowledge available in field.

The first year students are motivated to take social and environmental initiatives and also participate in co curricular & extra curricular activities on a large scale. The department has always been inspirational in motivating of first year students in national event events and activities of Robocon, BAJA, NSS ,NCC, and Projects at Institute level unit which gives them not only technical and social perspective but also teaches them team spirit.
