MIT is the pioneer Institute to impart technical education in Architecture in the Marathwada as well as Central Maharashtra region.
The Department of Architecture, MIT was established in the year 1984, in the historic city of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The College is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad since its inception. From the academic year 2018-19 onwards the course shall be affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere.
The course structure is aligned with the standards of education as prescribed by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi. It is a blend of theoretical knowledge and its practical application with ample application-based subjects evenly distributed throughout the syllabus.
Department offers a high level of education coupled with personal care through highly qualified and experienced faculty members and state-of-art infrastructure. The pedagogy adopted, offers teaching to impart varied expertise to keep pace with the changing world creating responsible contributors to the global community.
The all-round sustainable development of the students is taken care through a wide array of curricular and extra-curricular activities. The practical orientation of working in an actual office is also taken care of in the Professional Training subject in the Fourth and Final year of the course. Students also get a scope to exercise the applicability of the entire course learning in the Final Year Dissertation work.
Most of the MIT Architecture graduates are self - employed and many others find rewarding employment in planning, design and construction industries. Many students pursue higher education in reputed institutes across the country and abroad.

A case study was planned for the students of second year B. Arch as a part of Curriculum. The students were taught about different types of footing. They were told to measure and sketch out the elements. Students were then told to make the models of all the types of RCC Footing.
The industrial visit for modular furniture, at FURNOMECH, Design To Delivery, Chikalthana ( Modular Furniture industry) organized by Indian Institute of Inteior Design (IIID), Aurangabad was held on 3rd March, 2022. The industry located in MIDC ,Chikalthana are, owned by Anup and Anjali Kabra. The visit was organized for Third year B.Voc – Interior Design. and fifth year B.Arch. students.
A site visit was organised for second and thrd year students of B.Arch to study the casting of inverted U Boot PT Slab.
One day study tour for live sketching at Soneri Mahal in university campus was organised for the first year b.arch students to study scale, proportion.
Site visit to study door construction was organised for first year B.Arch and B.Voc students to study door construction at the food technology building of MIT Campus.
A day study tour was planned to Blue Ridge, Hinjawadi Pune to study mass housing township as a part of Architectural design curriculum.

The students of Third Year Architecture did a Case Study on “KAMALNAYAN BAJAJ HOSPITAL”. The visit was planned for 2 days to understand the Planning of different specialties and the Services required for designing of a Multispecialty Hospital.
"The students of first year architecture visited A Bungalow at Kasliwal Marvel, Beed Bypass Road, Aurangabad. The main objective of visit was to experience and understand the habitable spaces and study the interior furniture layout. Students in the group of 3 – 4 students studied the furniture layout of various habitable spaces. They were told to measure the room sizes as well as the furniture. Emphasis was to observe and make actual sketches of the furniture of all the necessary habitable spaces. "
"Visit to CIDCO MIDC Aurangabad was planned for the students of Second Year. The students were introduced and explained the various components of RCC Framed Construction. The components like footing, columns, beams, slab, shear wall with their reinforcement were explained with their functions and installation details. The basic terms such as shuttering, centering, setting time, cover, were explained on the site. The Mortar and Concrete preparation were studied by the students."
"Visit was planned to Capital Glass House CIDCO Aurangabad. The students were introduced and explained the various varieties of glass as a building and interior material. The product specifications like sizes, Treatments, Light Transmission LT(%) Exterior Light Reflection LRe(%) Transmission Color and Outdoor Reflection were explained with their specific applications and Rates. They were also introduced to the various components and varieties of Metal and UPVA doors and Windows. The components like frame, Sash/Sliding members, brackets, locking systems and various fixing elements like rubber gaskets, anti-dust membranes, reinforcement members were explained with their functions and installation details. "
A 13-day study tour was organized by the department of architecture, MIT to North India for the students of F.y., S.Y., T.Y., and Fourth year from 3rd to 15th May. A study tour as a part of the curriculum for the students of architecture enables them to visit places of great historic, cultural and ethnic importance. This brings to light the various features that are important to architectural designing, such as the history of its origin and evolution; the various styles and influence of the political and economic situation of the era; concepts of town planning; etc. A practical approach to studying the theoretical concepts makes learning an easy and enjoyable process.
"A visit was planned on at Mahavir Metal Depot PEB, Karodi (Waluj) Aurangabad to make students understand the Structural steel Members types. How to read the drawings on-site. Also to understand the Connection and Joinery details for different types of steel elements."
The visit was planned at Ganeshwadi Farm House Undangaon, Sillod. Where the Students visited and observed the traditional and cultural impact of Vada house designs in the Village. The main objective was to understand the planning and designing of a Farmhouse with vernacular technology and materials. Also to understand the Connection and Joinery details for different types of building elements.
A virual case study was organised for the students of First Year B. Arch Students, for the purpose of studying different elements of doors and windows. The faculty taught the basics about the topic and the details of the same were drafted by the students in the form of drawings. Such practices gave students the deeper understanding of the topic.
A virtual case study was organised for the students. Students were asked to draw the existing kitchen plan. Considering their mother as the client they were told to ask questions and redesign the new kitchen accordingly.
As a part of the academic curriculum, the students of Architecture are encouraged to explore the places of great historic, cultural and ethnic importance. This year department of Architecture, MIT Aurangabad went to South India for the study tour from 21st to 29th Jan.2020. Total 80 students and 5 teachers had gone for the tour. From the distant echoes of the industrial city, yet a world heritage site Aurangabad to the wild battering of the waves in Mammalapuram, Kanchipuram, to an Architect’s Paradise-Auroville and Puducherry, city of Nizams-Hyderabad, finally to feel enchanting bells and aroma of Tirupati the journey ended. The students of first- fifth year of architecture explored works of the past as well as the present. This brings to light the various features that are important to Architectural designing, such as the history of its origin and evolution; the various styles and influence of the political and economic situation of the era; concepts of town planning; etc. The 2020 South India tour was not only a platform for exploring new places but also forming bonds between the students and faculty who supported and guided them throughout this journey of learning.

The study tour to Madhya Pradesh was planned in Jan 2019 and was organized for First to third year students of Architecture department for 10 days. During the ten days of visit students visiited Mandu, Maheshwar, Omkareshwar, Bhopal, Sanchi and Indore. The students visited historical places , modern architecture structures, conservation projects , garbage disposal plant of Indore and interacted with renowned Architect of Indore city. About 21 students and 2 Faculties participated in this visit. The purpose of the tour was to study historical places, heritage monuments and modern architecture of capital city of M.P. Also to study zero garbage disposal process of Indians rank first garbage free city Indore for the two consecutive years.
"Case Study Tour of Kedgaon: A vernacular Weaver’s Settlement near Solapur, Maharashtra. A short tour of two days was organized by the department for Second Year Architecture Students, for the purpose of studying the weaver’s community (Dhangar) settlement and their housing at Kedgaon and Chikalthan Village, Karmala Taluka, District Solapur. A 10 day study tour was organized by the department of architecture, MIT to Rajasthan for the students of S.Y., T.Y., and FOURTH YEAR from 9th to 18th August 2017. Total 33 students and 3 teachers had gone for the tour.A study tour part of the curriculum for the students of architecture enables them to visit places of great historic, cultural and ethnic importance. A site visit was organized for the students of Final year B.Arch at Goga Baba Tekdi as part of the Eco initiative carried out by the Government of India monitored by Ekta Foundation and MIT College, Aurangabad (MH)
For me, the Bachelor of architecture in MIT Aurangabad course was a great foundation with outstanding academic content combined with practical exposure. The learning environment in the department of architecture, prepared me to explore and thrive in a dynamic and futuristic profession. This course helped me with sound knowledge of architectural design, construction and sustainability, without which my higher education would have not been successful.I want to sincerely thank all professors who has guided me throughout the study plan advised me according to my study interest.
Studying Architecture at Marathwada Institute of Technology, Department of Architecture, Aurangabad, has widened my perspective related to architectural knowledge and has given me an idea of the importance of architecture in today’s day and age. The faculties and staff are very helpful and are always present to clear our doubts and to lead us in the right path, be it in the design studios, site visits, workshops, review sessions, seminars etc. Teachers are very caring and interested in students’ well being. They make sure every class is fun, educational and interactive. The Institute's library serves as the ultimate answer to all our queries in terms of number of books, papers, periodicals and helping staff.While studies here for 5 years, my interest in the subject has deepened which helped me to pursue my higher studies in the field of architecture.
MIT’s contribution in my profession career has been significant. The structured curriculum, the extremely supportive and encouraging staff and the extracurricular activities inspire creative minds to do wonders . The opportunities that i got in my 5 yrs have invoked a sense of leadership and responsibility in me and the ability to take charge of my future. The practical knowledge that was imparted during the course helped me to pursue my interest in the field of Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure Management from One of the best institutes for construction management in India, NICMAR. Marathwada Institute of Technology‘s Architecture Department offers a blend of learning, amusement and integration of enduring principles. I am convinced that the intense teaching approach at MIT is at par excellence and has equipped me to step out to begin my career as an Architect. This institution has given me various opportunities that helped me expand the horizon of creativity. Be that competitions, seminars or guest lectures, we have always been motivated to participate. Conducting events and workshops like ZONASA, 2k15, stage decoration for Kalavihangam, all brought the department together inculcating principles of empathy and collaboration in us.Stepping out of Bachelors, I joined Anant National University at Ahmadabad hosting Fellowship for built environment, a step ahead analogous experience. A multi-disciplinary cohort which gives wide ranging perspectives to ponder on as a ‘Solutionary’.
Half a decade is quite some time to look back upon and when I do, I see myself stumbling along the corridors of the department of Architecture to inquire about the entrance test. Today, after semesters full of procrastinating and going through the gruelling sessions of work and co-curricular events, a year of professional training and some worthy memories, I do count my time at the institute to have borne fruition. It has given me an understanding to develop an insight and the maturity to look at architecture and life ahead with a keen perspective and to make a difference in the society that can account for its betterment. I sincerely hope that in the years ahead, the institute nurtures insightful individuals who can feel and do alike.
The whole journey right from knowing the meaning of architecture to the very point of practicing is very enriching.Before entering the Institute the whole concept of architecture was a daunting prospect, but with the kind of exposure and experience the institute has been giving us and the staff here being the greatest support system architecture for me has turned into a passion and lifestyle.I still have it fresh in my mind the answer I used to give when asked upon what is architecture? And all I had to say it is all about planning and designing buildings. But this institute has taken us miles away teaching us how a space can be used to design and plan things. The key points of MIT that caught my attention at the time of admission were its reputation, position among the top Colleges of the city. It was the first college I was wishing to attend, and after my journey with this College, I am gratified to be a student of it.All the faculty members of MIT are very earnest, dedicated and amicable. The department has a curriculum plan for each subject and is followed throughout the semester. The inventive assignments for each subject provide many opportunities to students to come up with creative ideas for each subject. My experience has been rewarding to say the least. I would like to thank all my teachers, specially the HOD, Prof. Kuldeep Kaur Bhatia for this special learning experience. Over the last two years the hands on approach of teachers really helped us to dwell into the subject and critically understand the intricacies of it. Specially in the second year of Academics when this unpresedented challenge was thrown at all of us. The institute gave us all the support that we needed. It did not let this affect our learning curve, by embrasing technologies so that no exams orr classes were hampered. The institute also encouragd us for extra- curricular activities by helping us enroll in multiple workshops, seminars and competitions for a well rounded development. The course introduced students to the concerns of mapping and representation in the city. These sites were the basis for the First Semester Studio Project, while physical mapping tools seem to be able to capture certain aspects of the city - there are many other aspects that slip out of conventional ways of reading and representing the city. These dynamic systems are often the driving force of the way the city works. We intend to identify, map and represent such systems both tangible and intangible. Through basic understanding & observation of city, students produced Cognitive image / Cartographic map of the place, which describe its own identity. Students also learned how intangible aspects has their own influences on the existing fabric of the city.

The studio work was split into three main phases, first is a mapping exercise, followed by Case studies and code research, dynamic multi-scalar design strategies, concluding with an urban intervention affected by the shifting terrain. Every group will design projects that cover many scales ranging from large-scale landscape, infrastructural systems to the design of housing prototypes of varying densities. The groups will work to develop a systemically driven approach that takes the hydrological extremes and ecological resonance of the context as the foundations of their formal proposition.

The Local Area Plan (LAP)has been formulated to enable planning for developing infrastructure in the Brownfield areas (those parts of the city that are already developed but not able to sustain the pressure on the existing infrastructure). Local Area based Plans create a framework for enhancing the public spaces, and areas under roads by enabling redevelopment of the existing built-up environment. This involves adoption of tools such as Form Based Codes (FBCs). The objective of the studio was to deal with significant urban areas that have strong potential for urban development. It focuses on inner city regeneration examining issues related to critical programme development, urban conservation, economic and environmental considerations, and infrastructure development, social and political forces. Methods to be adopted: Understanding, appreciating and enabling the involvement of user groups and decision-making agencies as a part of the project formulation. To perform feedback and interactive sessions to derive workable economic and environmental regeneration interventions. To diagnose implications of suggested interventions on the larger urban fabric to re-examine values in terms of social, physical, and the progressive nature of change. - Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics,natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
- The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
- Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
- Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
- Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
- Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
- Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
- Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage inindependent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
- The objective of the course is to make the students understand the significance of various issues of Design for a given context.
- The intention is to induce the students to evolve the Architecture which has essence, directness and modesty through humanistic and sustainable design solutions.
- The behavior needs of different user group and symbiotic relationship between the built and un built spaces should be properly acknowledged in above climate while harnessing the solar energy.
- In the initial stages of learning, students learn to tackle simple basic issues & gradually towards the higher level, he is expected to tackle the issues increasing in number and complexity.
- The graphical drawing and presentation is one of our medium of expression. Students are trained to explore the possibility of conveying their ideas and concepts with various skills of presentation.
Architecture is one of the early disciplines of Art; which practices the planning, designing and construction of buildings or physical envelops - both indoor and outdoor. It has four dimensions (4D), i.e. Art, Culture, Science and Nature (Environment).
To me, Architecture is the space to live in. I am proud to state that, our institute (MIT) is the first institute, imparting architecture education in Marathwada as well as in Central Maharashtra region. Our main focus and approach is to develop, to carve out a student - with confidence, creative, innovative, eco-sensitive abilities and a human outlook.
As Architects, they need to take-up future challenges of sustainability, space scarcity, environmental concerns, technological adaptability and socio-economic issues.
We have strong and profound alumni; our department has produced and cultured hundreds of professional architects, who are spread in our country as well as in abroad and established themselves as legitimate professionals. I feel privileged to be associated with them.
We have dedicated and skillful faculty support, conducive infrastructure and a rational educational approach to meet out the present students’ needs with timely site visits, expert/professional talks-workshops, educational tours and involving students into co- curricular and extra – curricular activities. We are student centric institute and I am sure that, you will find worthy of it.

A two days “BRICKS Construction Workshop” was organized in the Department of Architecture at MIT College, Aurangabad on 13th & 14th September 2019. 46 students from 1st . yr, 2nd . yr & 3rd .yr .attended the Workshop . The Workshop was conducted by Prof.Vikas Shimpi who is a renowned Model Maker from Nasik with the experience of conducting 79 workshops throughout the Country in different colleges. The aim of the workshop was to make students clear with the concepts of actual construction techniques including Brick Bonds, foundation, Arches etc.

Bamboo.Workshop by Ar. Yoga Rajpal Singh The two days workshop was conducted by of Ar. Rajpal Singh from Nagpur. On first day of workshop students got to know about the basics of Bamboo as a building material and its importance in Architecture. The next day students worked on the actual handling of bamboo and used it to create architectural models & sculptures. The lecture was an exposure programme arranged in which the students understood the use of bamboo as a sustainable building material and detailing of it while casting the actual object as per designs.

Department of Architecture celebrated World Architecture Day and Birth Anniversary of legendry architect Le-Corbusier on 6th October, Saturday. As a social initiative towards plastic free environment, the students of Architecture department, first year to fifth year prepared more than 1000 paper bags and distributed them amongst the vegetable and fruit vendors of Peer Bazaar, Kamgar Chowk Vegetable Market. A demonstration on easy methods of preparing paper bags was given to all the vendors and customers. Students Pranav Pujari, Nikhil Bhope, and Kushal Chhajed under the guidance of Prof. Deepali Hejib, and Prof. Leena Aphale spread awareness in the market. This social initiative was the brain child of Head of the Department Prof. Kuldeep Kaur Bhatia, and was conducted smoothly due to her guidance and encouragement.

He is a freelancer and a specialized director of photography. He has an experience in Hindi film industry with Mr. Jagdish Mali at Mumbai . The workshop helped the students to develop creativity, understand visual proportions and various camera settings and terminology of professional photography.
