Environmental Engineering Lab

Objective of Lab is to know the student common environmental experiments related to water and wastewater quality.

Structural Dynamics And Earthquake Engineering Lab

The main objective is to find the response of a structure subjected to dynamic loads and to learn the experiments related to the vibration phenomenon and its measurements.

Engineering Mechanics Lab

The primary purpose of the study of engineering mechanics is to develop the capacity to predict the effects of force and motion while carrying out the creative design functions of engineering. One of the primary objectives in a mechanics course is to help the student develop this ability to visualize, which is so vital to problem formulation.

Surveying And Leveling Lab

The primary aims of field surveying are to measure horizontal distance, vertical elevation and relative direction of lines by measuring horizontal angles. In the present day scenario, it has become mandatory for every civil engineer to have the basic awareness of surveying

Transportation Engineering Lab

This lab is used in the fields of rigid and flexible pavements and testing pavements materials and structures.

Engineering Geology Lab

The identification of different types of rocks and understanding their behavior are the major objectives of geology. Further, development of cracks, fissures in rocks, their causes and their remedies are to be learned in this lab.

Geotechnical Engineering Lab

The student will gain hands-on experience in conducting soil laboratory tests to determine soil parameters needed for geotechnical engineering design. Further the laboratory involves determination of moisture content, density, plastic limit, and liquid limit, shrinkage limit, bearing capacity, grain size distribution and specific gravity of soil.

Material Testing Lab

The objective of this laboratory is to allow students to test and assess the various properties of different materials. There are many apparatus and machines available such as Universal Testing m/c, Compression Testing m/c, Impact testing m/c, Torsion testing m/c, Flow Table, Table Vibrator, Autoclave m/c, etc. Through this lab, we also offers consultancy to various agencies in regards with material testing.

Fluid Mechanics And Hydraulic Machines Lab

Specific objective of this lab is to illustrate the physical concepts of fluid flows and introduce students to experimental techniques for fluid mechanics

CAD Lab

CAD laboratory is a central facility of the civil engineering department where all undergraduate students and faculty members can work with the sophisticated 2D and 3D design and analysis software.

Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Kanchanwadi-Aurangabad

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation granted permission on 02.03.2020(Monday) to visit STP at Kanchanwadi, Aurangabad. The STP have capacity to treat wastewater of 161 MLD. This plant was set up in 2017. Total Students of around 80 have visited new STP.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation granted permission on 02.03.2020(Monday) to visit WTP at Pharola, Aurangabad. Industrial Visit to Wilson Dam, Bhandardara

On 29th January, a visit was planned to Wilson dam, Bhandardara, in Ahmednagar district for final year civil students. All the students of BE. Civil Engineering Department including four faculties from the Civil Engineering Department participated in this site visit. Students interacted with experts. Bhandardara dam is one of the oldest dams in the country, and one of the most idealistic dam sites for a dam from civil engineering point of view. Construction work on Bhandardara dam was started in 1910 & completed in 1926 by the British administration. This dam is located 270 feet high above the river bed and 278 feet above its lowest foundation.

Webinar on“Constitutive Model of Soil by using Triaxial Test”

A Webinar on the topic “Constitutive Model of Soil by using Triaxial Test” was arranged by Civil Engineering Department of Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad in association with IGS Aurangabad Chapter, on 11th January 2022 at 11.30am. Dr. Shrikant Shinde, Faculty of Civil Engineering Department, Vishwkarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), Pune, was the resource person. More than 116 participants attended the webinar. Dr. Shrikant Shinde explained the theoretical background of Shear strength and its related parameters. Later he explained graphical method of plotting mohr’s circle and experimental set-up of Triaxial Test. The webinar concluded with information about ‘Constitutive Model of Soil and its significance”. Participants appreciated the work done by Dr. Shrikant Shinde. Prof. Mrs. Archana Pathak, carried the proceedings. Dr. Manish S. Dixit, (HCED, MIT and Hon. Secretary, IGS Aurangabad Chapter) and entire organizing team took efforts in successful completion of the webinar.

Webinar on “Opportunities in Building Information Modelling (BIM)”

The webinar has started with a welcome speech and brief introduction of expert Er. Parimal Abay Marathe, Director Progressive Expert Consulting Pvt. Ltd.at 11:00 am on 19January 2022 through the online platform of ZOOM app. During the talk speaker has guided students regarding career growth in civil engineering, hard skills and software skills necessary for becoming good engineer and industry opportunities for civil engineers. He discussed regarding case study project of Hedgewar Hospital with advanced scaffolding polymer plates used in construction. At 11:45AM session was continued by Er. Siddharth Prabhakar Deore (Founder of BIMvedh, Pune). Speaker introduced students about Building Information Modelling software. At the end speaker has given short demo of Building Information Modelling software which has created more curiosity among students in learning this software.

Description: Lecture included the information related with structures in oil refineries both on onshore & offshores. Mr. Girish shared self-experience about his struggling for right job. He also said, it is important to select and specify suitable career path while searching for jobs after graduation. Mr. Bagirath also explained that only operating the software’s is not enough, one should know all the basics before using any related software. Both guided the students for choosing any career and opportunities in Onshore & Offshore Oil & Gas Industries as a civil engineering concern.

A Webinar on the topic “Case Studies in Geotechnical Engineering” was arranged by IGS Aurangabad Chapter in association with Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad on 7th August 2021 at 11:30 am. Er. Ravi Sundaram, Director, Cengrs Geotechnica Pvt. Ltd. Noida, India was the resource person. More than 80 participants (including students and faculty) attended the webinar. Er. Ravi Sundaram discussed different case studies in Geotechnical Engineering wherein the importance of geological and soil investigation was covered. One week STTP on the topic “Advances in Geotechnical Engineering and Reliability of Structures”

IGS Aurangabad Chapter in association with Civil Engineering department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad, Maharashtra successfully conducted one week STTP on the topic “Advances in Geotechnical Engineering and Reliability of Structures” from 23rd to 27th August 2021. The aim of this STTP was to enhance the participants with the concepts of foundation design, its testing and monitoring, Sustainability in Geotechnics, Advanced Ground Improvement Techniques, Reliability of structures by NDT techniques, Analysis and testing of Pile foundations, Earth retaining structures, Geo-form and its application, Rock Tunneling, Earth retention solutions, Bio-immobilization of Heavy Metals in Sands. 155 participants registered for this STTP and around 114 participants participated actively. Participants consisted of Faculty members of renowned institutions, Research scholars and UG/PG Students from Maharashtra, Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana, Bihar, Mizoram and from neighboring countries like Bhutan.

Hitesh Lahoti (Authorized Trainer & Structural Consultant) at 11:40 am on the title “Importance of Software’s for Civil Engineering & Internship”. During the talk speaker has given the brief information of the various software’s related to civil engineering and also the importance of software’s in the construction industry. Speaker briefed about various software’s training and courses available for students who wish to enter into industry. Importance of ETABS & STAAD Pro in structural analysis and design, use of AutoCAD for drafting, importance of MS Project in project management is also explained to participants. At the end of the session demo on foundation design in STAAD Pro was given by exert.

One Week STTP on “Advances in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering” was jointly Organised by IGS – Aurangabad Chapter & Soil Dynamics Forum, ISET in association with Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Beed by pass road, Aurangabad & Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigad on 25th – 29th October 2021. The workshop started with a formal inauguration session at 10:45 am on 25 October 2021 through the online platform of ZOOM app. This included a welcome speech of the Convener; Dr. M.S. Dixit (HCED, MIT Aurangabad & IGS Aurangabad chapter) followed by introductory speeches by co-conveners Dr. R. S. Jakka (Secretary, Soil Dynamics forum, ISET) and Dr. S.M. Structural Audit

The Structural Audit of Saraswati Bhuvan School (Boy’s School) Building of Shri. Saraswati Bhuvan Education Society, Saraswatinagar, Aurangabad was conducted on 20/08/2020 and 25/08/2020 with general structural survey as well as non-destructive testing using : 1. Rebound Hammer (for compressive strength of beam/column/slab), 2. Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test (for UPV & Compressive strength of beam/column/slab), 3. Rebar Locator (for finding the position and diameter of the reinforcement in the concrete), 4. Corrosion meter (for finding the existing level of corrosion taken place in the existing reinforcement).

"The Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad and Indian Geotechnical Society, Aurangabad Chapter jointly organised an e-Technical Paper Presentation Competition from 23/04/2020 to 03/05/2020. A total of 32 Groups from different colleges of Maharashtra took part in the competition. After the evaluation, results were declared and the certificates of winners were sent via e-mails. Prize distribution was done Prizes in the form of books, worth Rs. 2500 to the 1st winner, Rs. 1500 worth books to the 2nd winner and Rs. 1000 worth books to the 3rd winner, were given. Prof. S. T. Patil and Prof. V. R. Upadhye, Civil Engineering Department, MIT, Aurangabad made sincere efforts in organizing the e-competition and made it successful. Three days workshop from 3rd – 5th Oct. 2019 was jointly organized by Indian Geotechnical society- Aurangabad chapter and Civil Engineering Department of Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad. Engineers from various Government departments like Irrigation, PWD, Municipal Corporation, consultants, practicing engineers and faculty members of different engineering colleges in Aurangabad participated in the workshop. Total 117 participants were present in the workshop out of which 85 were students from final year civil engineering of engineering colleges in and around Aurangabad and 32 participants were from Industry. Resource persons from IIT New Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Indore, Government college of Engineering –Pune and Amravati, Geotechnical Consultants from Gujarat, Pune and Mumbai shared their experience.

15th National Youth Parliament Competition was held on 25th Oct. 2018 in our institute. Dr. Tarun Arora, Group Coordinator, NYPC and Dr, R.M. The structural audit of Old Sanskrutik mangal kryalaya and E.S.R. of Municipal Council Bhokardan was carried out by Department of Civil Engineering, MIT (E),Aurangabad on 15/03/2018 by Prof. V.R.Upadhye, S.T.Patil, Suhel Hashmi, Syed Fahad, and D.S Adsul.
